staysail sheet leads on Gulfstar 39
Watermark (GFS03929, ex Liberty, ex Floating Prime) is a cutter rigged Gulfstar 39 Sailmaster. The sheets for the staysail are run aft through the same blocks used for the genoa. This gives the sail an inefficient angle to the wind when sailing to weather. The former owner thought that the staysail was added by the first owner and compensated for this by using the windward sheet to pull the clew toward the centerline of the boat. I'd like to set appropriate tackle for this sail but have been unable to see from pictures of cutter rigged Sailmaster 39's where the blocks were originally mounted (and hopefully already appropriately reinforced on my boat). It appears to me that the correct placement would be on top of or just forward of the dog house. Any pictures of the correct setup or suggestions would be appreciated.
