Catalina 25 the head is plumbed wrong?

I noticed on the Catalina 25 that there is a three way valve with directions magic markered on the lid that say:
Switch to 1 for toilet to holding tank
Switch to 2 for toilet to overboard
Switch to 3 for pump-out

I've always seen a separate hose for pump-out and only two options on the valve.
How bad is this?
I suspect I have to zip tie it after every pump out and re-zip-tie it to make it legal.

My Catalina 25 isn't plumbed that way. Just a single Y-valve, like you've always seen.

I take it that the hose from the deck pump-out fitting doesn't go directly to the holding tank but instead through this Three-Way valve. Seems like that Third Position is meant to isolate the head from the suction of the pump-out pump.

So, applying vacuum to the deck fitting, with the Valve in the head-to-holding-tank position doesn't do anything?

If that's the case, well, zip ties are sold by the bundle...

Exactly.
At least the vent is separate.
I'm going to take a close look at it later.

Maybe someone put in a non-marine valve that is a 3 way valve.

Strange indeed. More commonly you will have a Y-valve at the head outlet/holding tank inlet to select overboard or holding tank. And then a second Y-valve on the tank outlet to select pump or overboard via pump. I prefer a system without the first Y-valve (everything goes to holding tank - no option. Then you have the choice of having the tank pumped out, or pumping it overboard if its legal.
