batten replacement

I noticed my main sail battens didn't look right so on further investigation there where just small short pieces of wood in the pockets. My question is what can I use as a batten that;s not going to wreck my sail that is aging ? Should I make some fiberglass battens ? How flexible should a batten be ?

And online venders like Defender. You just need the width and length. Buy the one that's slightly longer and cut to length. For standard (not full) battens I prefer the tapered ones as the sail shape is better.

Always use tapered battens. And yes, just buy them from West, or defender, or any other local shop or sailmaker.

I have a large pile of old, tapered battens. If you measure the pockets, perhaps I can send you some.

I will measure the length and I would be happy to see if you have some extra bubbleheadmd. I would pay for the shipping. I will go down to the boat tomorrow and make sure of the length and how many.

does the tapper start from the inside and and go fatter to the luff or the other way ?

Thick/flat at the leech, and then thinner/rounded at the luff/mast.
