Shaft Pump?

I am installing a new engine in my Nor’Sea 27 and I think I would like to install some sort of pump, either belt driven or something that fixes directly to the shaft for an emergency bilge or fire pump. I looked at the Erickson pumps but they have no way to attach a hose on the pickup side. They move a whole lot of water but only when it gets as high as the shaft. I want to be able to suck water from the bilge or from over the side. Anyone have any ideas?

My engine is raw water cooled and I added another valve on top of my sea-**** that I could use in an emergency. I can also rinse with fresh water every now and then.(poor mans fresh water cooling).It is a tee on top of the sea-**** followed by another valve with about a five foot piece of hose coiled up.-thomas

Thank you for the info. I''ll check it out.
I probably did a bad job of explaining it the first time but what I''m thinking about is a really high capacity pump which I can drive with the engine by way of a belt or something. I don''t think the waterpump on the engine is able to move enough water to do alot.
