C&C 26 Prop information

So far cross my fingers, my current stock prop is in good shape. Not being a prop expert but knowing there is a great deal of knowledge in this forum; I was just wondering if there were better props available for my boat and how I go about the selection processes? If I appear to be totally lost here I made my point.

Thanks in advance for the interest.

A few questions. Inboard? If so is it a fixed prop or folding or feathering? What engine? What speed can you make under power? What are the RPMs at cruise speed and max speed?

mitiempo will become famous soon enough
You will need to know the rpm and the ratio of the transmission. An optical tach can be borrowed probably. Without these numbers it is just a wild guess.

How do you know you have a stock prop?
What have you got now - 2 blade; 3 blade; fixed; folding?
What pitch and diameter?

I have a 1977 C&C26.
According to the original owners manual the standard prop fitted with a Vire was:
2 blade fixed: 11" x 7" x 7/8" RH or optionally a 12" x 6" x 7/8" RH folding.
(Transmission was a 2:1 reduction)
