Deck fill plugs
I have a 1982 Cal 31. One of the plastic deck fill plugs
developed a hole. I cannot find a replacement on the web.
The plug screws into the deck fitting, uses a key to unscrew, and
is attached to the fitting chain with a screw on the underside
of the plug. Anyone now where I can find a replacement?
You can try West Marine. They have replacement caps listed in their annual catalog. If not in stock they can order it for you. Also, you can try your local marine store. I'm sure they would be able to order one for you.
Some of the older deck fills used a thread that you can no longer find. I had some of these on my Ericson. I had to replace the entire fitting.
If it is a plastic plug, can you just repair it with epoxy? Or use a product like Plast-aid? (I've never tried the stuff).
If you do replace the fitting, definitely get a keyless cap (tab pops up). You'll never to back.
