DSC VHF Radio?

I got a new Icom M412 DSC capable radio. What features are folks really using?
The instruction manual has a ton of features i'm not sure I'll ever use. What are the best/most useful of these?

DSC is very handy for calling your friends without the whole world knowing. This thwarts a lot of nosy busybodies who listen to every conversation. In the Bahamas this is known as "listening to the mail".
