Best hose for the head sea water intake?

I noticed today that the hose is starting to kink and collapse at the through-hull. It looks pretty old.

Looks like a whole new length from through-hull to the head is needed. What's the best quality hose? I've heard about doubling up on the clamps, any other info I should know?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

For the intake any good non-kinking hose will work but i used Premium Sanitation hose as I did for the outlet in the appropriate size.
All hoses below the waterline should be double clamped and I would double clamp and hose carrying waste wherever it was.

All hoses should be double clamped. If a connection above water fails the hose will fall down and will be below water level.

Make sure you buy good quality hose that does not tranfer the odour outside.

Smell isn't a huge issue with the intake.

Even though this doesnt carry sewerage I used Trident green stripe for all hoses when I redid our head, holding tank vent and transfer hoses.

I did as well but he may not want to spend $6 or $8 a foot for intake hose.

The quality of the hose clamps is also important. Use only AWAB clamps.

Salt water and the critters that live in it can cause significant odor in head hoses if left for a week on a hot boat. Not all the head smell comes from the nasty stuff. Quality intake hose should be used along with AWAB clamps doubled and turned 180° to each other.

My Ericson head intake shared a thru-hull with the sink drain. This allowed me to flush the salt water out via the sink drain every time I left the boat.

Yes it's very noticeable that the salt water in the head smells horrible after a week in the pipe. In fact since I put treatment in the holding tank, that's the chief source of bad smell. For a while I kept adding more treatment to the tank, until I figured out it was the salt water smelling.

Unfortunately it has a dedicated through hull (how else would Bristol get the number up through-hulls up to 10? They must have had shares in the through-hull manufacturer )
