High and almost dry, looking for recommendations
All,
My neighbor bought a San Juan 7.7, (4K lb, fixed keel, 26 feet) on my advice and moored it up on Possum Kingdom Lake in the DFW area. As you may have heard, we're in a drought and all of the Texas lakes are suffering, some more than others. The 7.7 draws just under 5 feet and he was tied up to his floating dock in about 8 feet of water last summer. This year he is now in about two feet and the boat was listing about 20 degrees to port when he discovered the drastic dehydration of the lake. It is now tied to the floating dock and he has arrested the list even as the water levels continue to drop.
I've suggested he get out there and make sure the rudder is free from torque, maybe even remove it but that he ought to be able to weather the drought either by righting her with some jack stands or just allowing her to rest on her side.
Thoughts as to how to proceed?
