Flickering Stove

My kerosene Shipmate two burner stove works, save one thing: the left burner flickers when under flame. It burns, stops, burns, stops, burns, stops (you get the idea). The right burner flows continuously, so no problems there. I'm new to living aboard and fuel powered stoves/ovens, so any ideas on the problem and how to fix it without melting off my face, are appreciated.
