Cockpit Cushions

On a recent BVI charter with The Moorings, the boats all had cool single seat fold-up cushions. They were very light and could be easily moved around the cockpit and my thought was to get 4 or 5 and use in conjunction with my boat's custom closed cell cushions that I already have. Anyone know the specific cushions used by The Moorings in the BVI? Anyone know where I can buy those cushions? Thanks.

Hey landmine, thanks for the help. I'd actually thought of that before I posted. Unfortunately, the sales person that I spoke with had no idea where they get the cushions or who makes them. I have left vm messages in their customer service dept. and purchasing dept., but have not heard back; hence, my post here ... Again, thanks for your insightful help!

Here are a couple options:

REI Trail Chair at REI.com

WEST MARINE Reclining Go-Anywhere Seat 2, 5 positions at West Marine

Thanks WinterRiver. The one from WM also shows an even better one for $10 more than the one in the article. THAT one is going to go onboard ASAP.

I have the go anywhere seat 2 and in my very limited experience, it is AWESOME. I keep it flat to store belowdecks in the quarterberth where it takes up virtually no space and then break it out when I sail. If you had more than one, it may get cluttered, but they stay in place pretty well and are comfortable. Your passengers will thank you.

I would go with the real deal... Sport a seat - Cockpit cushions, cockpit seats, folding seats, portable seats, sailboat cushions, helm seats.

When sailing in the Abacos with Moorings, I remember a light weight cushion that was 2x4 made with closed cell and mesh like material. It had a seam in the middle that allowed it to fold up to a 2x2 double thickness. The folding also allowed it to be stored on a lifeline.

I have not seen them since. Maybe available thru a European or Caribbean chandlery.

Certainly easy enough to make.

I do like the versatility and comfort factors of the Sport-a-seat but I do not consider them easy to store. We also found that they do not stay in place when heeling(while not sitting on them). They are heavy and they do take up a fair amount of space. More of an issue for a live-aboard than a coastal cruiser. We had two on our previous boat and loved them.

I have the same issue. We now just throw a small section of non-slip rug pad under the seats... works perfect.

Treilley: Your description of the Moorings cushions sounds like what I am looking for/ trying to find. Perhaps the ones from West Marine are the closest. I've called and left messages at Moorings again and will post an update if I hear back. In any event, thanks to all for the responses.
