looking for 1970's triangular wind indicator

I have been searching where to purchase a 1970's style red triangular wind indicator. These wind indicators were used on small boats mounted on top of the mast.

I think I know exactly what you are talking about. It is a red plastic indicator that looking from the top has an elongated triangular shape. It has a "V" profile. I also seem to recall that the indicator had holes in it along it's length. I was mounted with straight stainless rod that was threaded into the top of the mast and had a knurled locking nut on it. I also am recalling a stainless counter weight on the back side.

We used them on racing dinghies all the time and would remove them every time we unstepped the mast (which was all the time since they were trailered to different regattas. It worked great.

Amazingly, I looked and found what I remembered. My recollection was pretty close to what it looks like.

If that is what you are looking for, do a Google Search for "Davis Instruments Spar Fly Windex". You can find them at Defender or WM.

I'm sure glad I spent 10 minutes of my life responding to CC386's question.

1970's wind indicator

Thank you for your responce I have been away from a computer for a few days. The wind indicator I'm looking for is an old type. A single piece of plastic with three half circles cut out of it.

dhays, you can still buy that one you posted from Catalina direct. replaced the one on my 14.2 with it.

Sounds like you were closer than I was.
