Spinlock deck vest?

Now that I am getting my feet wet (quite literally) on a regular basis (beer can races weekly) and will be soon practicing actively (some of it solo) on my Ranger 23 ... I feel it's time to upgrade my PFD ...

note - I am sailing on San Francisco Bay ... and at 63 I have lost some of my agility ... and I am learning ...

I wear my PFD at all times (currently a Crewsaver Crewfit with harness) and like the idea of the harness ...

Last April I took a day off of work to go to Strictly Sailing Pacific ... getting there early allowed me to try on a Spinlock Deck Vest and wear it around for an hour or so and it seemed very comfortable ... something very important as I do wear it all the time ...

I'm aware of the USCG issue (not a problem as I keep several approved PFD's aboard anyway) ... and the recall ... and have read thru the threads here on comparisons vs Mustang ...

Before I actually purchase ... I'd like to ask if there are any reasons NOT to go this route?

Thanks again as always

John

Nope. It's also the only vest with a built in spray hood. And good luck! The R-23 is a great stiff little Bay boat!

That's another feature I really liked ... hoping I'll never use it but ... I've already dunked a laser and rather unceremoniously took a tumble off the bow of the Cal 28 coming into the dock ... tho' I did I luckily manage to grab onto the pulpit and hang on ... only getting wet from the waist down ... (of course I could say that was after 8 exhilarating hours on the Bay but still .... arg)

and yes ... the Ranger is hot!
