Cleaning hull without removing wax

Applied two coats of Collinite Paste Fleetwax this spring. Even after giving the entire deck and cabin top a complete wash down, we still get black streaks down the side of the hull . . . assuming it is coming from coal fired power plants.

We go over the hull with a soft bristle brush after we've sail - but by about mid-season the streaks need something stronger.

What product do you use clean your hull that won't remove the wax?

I've been using Imar, heard about it in Mainsails thread on buffing and polishing, and it seems to be easier on the wax than others.

Suggest you call Collinite, they're fast to answer the phone. Generally "car wash" boat wash or aircraftr wash products are designed to clean without removing the wax, while other soaps are more aggressive.

Soot marks might be from a coal plant, or unburned jet fuel if there's a flight pattern over you and near an airport. Sometimes there's no way to deal with that except repeated washing and rewaxing.
