Shaft Log Access Problems

I just purchased a Paceship26 with a 8hp yanmar diesel. Directly above the packing gland is the gas tank about 4-5 inches above it. I only have one hand access and cannot get two wrenches on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible that I would have to remove the tank to repack the gland?
