Tabernacle Replacement

The problem I ran into last spring raising the mast for the firs time on my Starwind 19 was that the sheetmetal tabernacle had been mangled (to put it politely) by one or more previous owners.

My plan is to make a new tabernacle out of Aluminum channel stock and shim as necessary to get the necessary internal width.

Anybody else have this problem and if so, how have you solved it?

I had a deck plate which would probably be under the tabernacle you have. That deck plate wasn't mangled so much as loose, and a little bent on one side. I found a replacement 'hinged mast assembly' at Dwyer Mast which is the same size, but which has 4 bolts instead of two. Since it's the same size, the replacement should do fine. I'd suggest seriously looking for a suitable replacement if you can spring for a little cash. Doin it yourself on something holding your very important mast is risky to you boat and your mast. Just my two thoughts. Good luck!
