Genset - Quiet Ones

I need a 3.5 - 5.0 KW genset. It must be *quiet* since its main use will be for the A/C at night. What units have peope had good experience with?

I hear good things about Northern Lights gen sets.But the price is a bit high. I am getting a 6kw set from them no matter what and will break it in and then switch to AMSOIL synthetic oil to make it last long.

I have used synthetic oil only on my cars, never in a diesel application. On the cars (so far on 5 of them) - every oil gasket etc started leaking within 500 miles. Most leaks were fixed with a simple re-torque of the bolts. One car required all gaskets to be replaced (Porsche 911). Just be warned and keep a careful eye for leaks. What does the engine manufacturer say about syn oils?
