Remove the top batten

I've noticed that the top batten on some sails is about half of the distance from the leach to the luff or a little more.

When it is installed it causes the top of the sail go form more of a V than a nice curve.
I've tried leaving it out and like the shape a little better.
Anyone else notice this?

I doubt if if makes a measurable difference in performance but I'm just wondering?

I think your batten is too stiff - try a lighter one.
