SanJuanIslander is on a distinguished road
Motor Mounting Issues

I''ve a 23 ft San Juan and just bought a new Honda 2004 9HR motor which weighs 129 lbs. My old motor, an Evinrude 9.9, weighed 88 lbs. Is this difference in weight too much for my San Juan? Also, due to the size of the Honda, it requires a special mounting system because the stern of our boat is too narrow or not shaped right. Initially looking into it I found I''d have to install a special metal plate on the stern of my sailboat and jerry rig some things. Are there any better ways of pursuing this?
