I personally prefer the horseshoe for two reasons, one, it fits tighter in it’s launching rack (I occasionally get boarding waves) and two, the MOB can put it around his body easier rather than just hanging on. While mine is a “pretty” white, yellow would be a better color for visibility. You should label all your safety gear (and floating objects like boat cushions) with your boat’s name and hailing port. Going left to right in the picture is a MOMS-8 (inflatable horseshoe, pole & drogue), A Lifesling and my white horseshoe. Not shown is a block & tackle for retrieving the MOB back on board and a throw bag (line).
