Hello,

I got a boat in March 2011 and I have been sailing her happily (mostly) during the summer. Now that the rainy season is coming I am doing the maintenance work that she so eagerly desires.

I don't have experience in boat maintenance and boat construction apart from what I have already been learning hands-on this past month and what I have gleaned reading this and other specialized forums (along with some basic literature).

Here's my candid question:

Is there any one experienced at the marina looking for helping hands during the week-end? I could learn from you and get to see the guts of your boat. That would help me with gaining understanding of mine. In exchange you could take a look at mine and help me find the areas that need to be addressed and give me a few tips on that.

Good luck with your efforts. You might also find Don Casey's book "This Old Boat" a very useful addition to your library and learning curve.

Thanks for your advices. I already had Spurr's book given by a friend but Casey's book looks really neat and I just ordered it. I'll take a look at the other ones too if possible.

I am a little paranoid and a bit of a hypochondriac. Having a boat as an additionnal body to worry about might not have been the wisest choice .
