WHOOSH is on a distinguished road
HF Email on Boats

If you are even *thinking* about a) getting a ham license or putting an HF SSB rig on the boat, b) going cruising, and/or c) putting a ham license to use on a boat for wx f''cast files, email, etc., the SSCA Gam is A - and perhaps THE - program to attend. The seminars are generally excellent and broad in content. The separate computer/radio/ham seminars are delivered by THE experts, yet done in a down-to-earth but polished format. You can watch a radio station being assembled, use all the pieces yourself, watch the software up/download wx files and email, and attend seminars that cover every aspect of installing and operating a ham and/or Marine SSB radio station aboard a boat. And on top of all this, the cost is peanuts (see the Gam announcment at ssca.org) while the special ham/radio seminars cost nothing extra.

If anyone has a question about content, you might consider contacting k4cjx@winlink.org - Steve is the ''leader'' of the Winlink team and rounds up station operators from all over the U.S. to attend this seminar series (all at their own expense, I might add). Jim Corenman, author of Airmail and Sailmail and co-founder with Stan Honey of the Sailmail Marine SSB alternative to the ham Winlink system, also comes to present a series of topics.

If you have a question you can''t get answered any other way, please feel free to contact me...but most important, fly/ride/hike to the Gam and enjoy the great time.
