Welcome jd!

I put an x-5 a few years ago and I really like it. Here's an thread from that time on this A/P:

http://www.sailnet.com/forums/electr...-x-series.html

I put my computer just inside the companionway on the starboard side. My compass is underneath the starboard settee in the main cabin, about 5 feet from the stove (the largest nearby hunk of metal). I've had no problems with these components.

I have a rack and pinion steering system (the wheel is reversed), so the installation of the wheelpilot on the wheel was a challenge (as is still a work in progress), but the autopilot has given me my hands back when I'm singlehanding.

Regards,
Bill

I put the x-5 in my Pearson 31-2 last year and am very happy with it.
The compass is in the starboard settee locker near the mast.
the course computer is on the back wall of the electrical panel cabinet.
It was an easy install--running the wires takes most of the time.

Your privacy is valuable.
You can click on "Tobytoo" and one of the better options is to directly send him/her a private message.
If you feel must post your phone # in the path of a thousand spam-harvesting bots, at least change it to something not readable as a phone #.
(FiveNineEightdash93Oneeight) for example.
