Transducers and depth sounder High teck

Dose any one out there know, if you buy a transducer that is the same MHZ as the one that you depth sounder works with, will it work even if it is a diferent brand.

I believe that Depth Transducers (and cable) are also impedance matched to the instrument. You cannot even cut out a bad section of cable (& re-splice) with an OEM ''ducer.
This would suggest that ''other'' brands may not work properly, unless you are "lucky" enough to locate an exact match (frequency & impedance).

Try asking Airmar regards your specific application @

or look at their cross-reference guide @

I recently replaced my Signet depth sounder with a Standard Horizon unit. Since they both operated on 200Khz, I connected the new Standard Horizon unit to the existing Signet transducer....it works fine. Sure saved a lot of work installing a new transducer!

I suspect that most 200Khz transducers are interchangeable. At least it''s worth a try as it was in my case.
