Shame, this looked like a thread that might have some interesting info.

Squidd, I'd like to hear what you find on this subject as it sounds like you're pulling info together from multiple threads. A nice summary in this thread vs a lot of links out to other threads would be a good thing. I for one am looking at learning some stitch work

But BL wasn't wrong in calling you out. Go back and re-read your posts, you don't come off well. Acting like you're somehow superior to the people you're asking for help isn't going to win you any points. It just makes you look immature -- and I'm guessing you're NOT a kid so you should know better.

You said yourself, there're a lot of experienced people on Sailnet. Sometimes that experience comes from doing it the hard way and figuring out a solution like Sailcare makes more sense. If you don't have the cash but have the time that's a different discussion and we've all been there. Just be up front about it.

He could use a little tact... maybe then I wouldn't have to come down so hard on him...

I think I've lightened up a little bit overall..

No worries. I'd still like to see you do a post that summarizes what you've found out so far in a little more detail.

It's continuing... I may just start a new thread/new direction, not so much on the ironing, but the cleaning and care, as well as some interesting stuff I'm finding on rehab, refinish, reshape and repair of older sails...

Sooner or later they all get tossed, but I think we can get a lot more "decent" performance and use out of them than I've been hearing about...

"Tact" is what got this thread to five pages of two pages of solid intel.

"Tact" is what you use when your wife asks you if that dress makes her look fat.
In other words, tact is what you use when you don't have the balls to be honest.

Fphuck a whole buncha tact.

I think winter is leading to a little cabin fever in the north. Built my own trailer too, also built a gantry and used chain falls instead of renting a crane.
