Dumpster diving at the end of the season a few years ago yielded four trashed dodgers from various sized powerboats and part of a cockpit enclosure from yet another boat. Laid out the pieces of isinglass that weren't too wrecked; made a template for our cockpit out of 2-mil plastic dropcloth from Home Depot; and cobbled-together an enclosure for our boat - not good enough visibility to travel the ICW with, but more than ample to keep us warmly enclosed over 4-5 Chesapeake winters. Total cash outlay for a few pieces of Sunbrella to bridge some gaps and misc. grommets and zippers = $119. Canvasman's bid to build an enclosure for our boat = $4,000.

Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable. - Sidney J. Harris
Shameless self-promotion - my blog for the Annapolis Capital newspaper is moving to a new location: To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.
