Sail swap

I just got a '71 Cat 22 and the sails are pretty worked. I have about 4 sails from my dad's Columbia 30 that are in pristine condition. I have looked at several sites that offer used and new sails and also offer to purchase sails. Would love to swap the columbia sails for some much better sails for the cat. Has anyone ever sold sails to any of these outfits? Would love to know of any of the reputations of these dealers if anyone knows. Thanks in advance for your input.

You will probably do good with ebay if you have a good reputation and know how to make up a good ad.

Craigslist will work well also if you are in an area with an active sailing community. You just have to be smart enough to weed out the scammers.

If there is a used sail loft in your area you might be able to work something out in person. I would not waste my time trying to work a deal via shipping.

Unfortunately, nothing close for used sail lofts. I live on the central coast of Ca and not much population in my area (which is great in general but bad for this sort of thing). I looked on ebay and didn't see much in the way of sails. I don't use ebay much so maybe i'm doing it wrong. I was hoping to ship them to one of the several lofts that advertise used sails online. Have you had a bad experience doing that? Otherwise I am not sure what I will do with the sails I have.

I bet they have some sails for a C22 they might exchange for what you have. It is a drive to get there but could be worse.

Thanks for the info. I looked at their sight and list of available sails and don't see much that I'm looking for (particularly mains). I will give them a call though. They will likely be a great resource for other parts even if the sails don't work out. Thanks again!

I'll second that. Give Minney's a call. They're pretty accommodating, so you can probably work something out if they have a set you can use.
