Used sails?

So, I just bought an old (1975) Venture 22 but the previous owner managed to tear the main sail a week ago and simply discarded it so there is no way I can think about repairing it.

He cut the price enough to make up for it but I am not wanting to wait a month while a new main is made for me. Does anyone know of a source which might have a (lightly) used main which would come close to fitting?

Check with one of the used sail companies. Don't know if there is one near you but the largest one is Bacon Sails in Annapolis. You can check their inventory on-line. They don't list their sails by boat name so you need to go into their boat database and find the relevant dimensions for your boat and then search for the correct sizes. Their condition descriptions seem very fair to me. I have bought and sold sails through them and have been pleased.

eBay, Craigslist, Bacons Sails in Annapolis...many others online, search "used sails"...

check Bacon Sails for dimensions of your boat. Then check their inventory. Once you know the dimesnsions you can also check ebay under boat parts.

Take a look at Minney's website. The have a ton of used sails.

Actually, Bacons do have a "search by boat" function - I just took a quick look and they have 7 mains they call suitable for a Venture 22. They also have a Venture 222 in their search parameters.

I know some other sites have a "search by boat" function but mostly they use I, J, P, E or luff, foot. You should find out the dimensions and other specs of your sail so you can increase your odds of finding one the right size.

Thanks all. I found one at secondwindsails.com which should arrive in a few days. It is a new Rolly Tasker, no real savings but also no month long wait.
