Compass Advice

Wish to get a decent, yet reasonably priced, compass for my little Montgomery 15.
Probably best to consider bracket mounting, some adversion to cutting holes in boat

I have a Garmin Trex gps, but still like a compass.

Any suggestions/advice?

Thanks,

Jeff

Bulkhead compasses will not compromise the integrity of your vessel. They have the added advantages of having a built-in inclinometer.

Lightbulb

A long time ago I used an excellent compass in my 20 footer. It was a Silva and was detachable for use as a hand bearing compass. Easy to store away when we were off the boat.
I find that it's still in production.
"Silva Multi-Purpose And Handheld Compass 70un"
Here's one URL:

Perhaps there is a US distributor, with some more searching...

Find a decent marine consignment shop and see what they have. A while back my local one had a stack of Silva 4" bulkhead mount compasses, NIB for $25 each.
