ramarine gps 300 in navpod 142 ?

i''d like to mount a raymarine 300 gps monitor in the center of a navpod np 142 (20"x5'')and mount my st60 tridata and autopilot on each side of it.
has anyone tried this? i know every thing will fit on the navpod face. my concern is that the navpod isn''t deep enough for the 300 and it''s connecting cords.
i don''t want buy the pod,cut holes in it , and find out the 300 doesn''t fit.
a side note: i called both raymarine and navpod for answers. raymarine said it WOULD fit, navpod said it WOULD NOT fit!

FYI the person who makes Navpods is the West Coast Raymarine distributor so he would know if his products fit together.
