the wrong way to remove an antena
So, I''ve been refitting my boat, and part of that involved a masthead antena for the VHF. That being done, I was trying to remove the 60''s era 2 meter high whip antena from the stearn. I couldnt get the bolts loose come hell or high water. I ended up letting it sit, and was going to attach the screws with a carbide bit and just drill through them the next time out...
So, yesterday, at lunch, I recieve a call from someone in the Marina. Apparently their boat got blown off while trying to dock, and ended up slamming into my precious Josie. As far as they can tell, the only damage was that they knocked off my VHF Antena :) I''m going up there tonight to make sure I didnt take any more damage, but if this is the extent of the consequences from the colision, it works for me.
Next time though, I think I''ll just drill the screws. ;)
