Dyneema Lifeline Hooks

I want to replace my frayed covered steel lifelines with dyneema rope...

The rope has a 5400# rating, but the heaviest gate hooks I found are like 360#...?

What is reccomended to splice on to dyneema line..?

Re: Dyneema Lifeline Hooks

I would look at the New England ropes splicing guide. High tech line is usually fairly easy to splice.

Good Luck

What gate hooks are you looking at?

This is what I used:

Re: Dyneema Lifeline Hooks

So I don't need a $50 bend over hook, I can get by with a $10 SS snap clip...?

Re: Dyneema Lifeline Hooks

The best splice for single braid Dyneema line is the Brummel Splice, I used it for the lifelines on my previous boat. It is extremely easy to do, can be re-set (with a bit of difficulty). I used the directions on Colligo Marine modified Brummel Splice with good success.

Re: Dyneema Lifeline Hooks

I just used wire gates on mine. They hang better and don't get tangled with stuff when I come aboard. While the Dyneema life lines are always under a little tension and stay straight.
