1998 Hunter 240

Not my boat but a good friend that just got into sailing, he's at my dock and he's thinking he made a big mistake with buying the boat.

He has gallons of water coming in during the day, almost overflowing the bilge, we did repair our pump, it works now and he and another friend determined the leak is not from a hole in the hull or from the water ballast, we THINK it's coming from the keel bolt (swing keel).

How do u get to it? We called the Hunter Factory, have not heard back in over a week, have left 3 messages.

Thoughts? Thanks guys.

Re: 1998 Hunter 240

Have you checked the hull/deck joint in the stern? Also the 240 is a swing keel & the line to raise/lower the keel goes through the hull near the keel bolt. Check there for leaks. If memory serves on my 260 there is a tube connected to the hull that goes higher than the waterline so it wont overflow, perhaps yours is leaking?

Good luck!
