tapered seacocks

I originally thought the seacocks on my p26 were old spartan ones. However now I'm not sure. There's no dog washer and there aren't any bolts! I am at a loss as to what is holding these things on to the boat besides some sort of 5200 like sealer. Any thoughts?

Most builders don't seem to have bothered with the bolts. The mushroom goes in from the outside, and the seacock is threaded onto it. So the mushroom and seacock flange are sandwiching the hull. It's pretty strong even without the mounting bolts.

That's how the Spartan seacocks on my Morris were originally installed - no bolts, just
the mushroom threaded on.

I daresay the vast majority of hull valves are mounted that way - I rarely see them bolted on.

The thinking was the bolts keep the inside from turning on it's backing plate while the out side part screwed into the valve body. A big pipe wrench does the same job and FG is so tough, no problem.
