Try the free literature and Product Guides available from the Product Information section of the West System website http://www.westsystem.com/

West products are the way to go for amateur do-it-yourself work; good products, good information and very easy to use dispensing gear, small batches or big.

One of my favorite references is "The Boat Repair Manual" by George Buchanan, Arco Publishing, Inc. New York. For fiberglass construction, small and large holes, delamination, core repair, etc. are covered step by step begining on page 84.

I''m also looking for a fiberglass guide. I''ve been using the West System guides and Vaitses''(?)Fiberglass Boat Repair Manual. They were both very informative as far as handling the material, repairing gel coat, holes, and osmosis.
My problem is, after a brutal grounding of my Cal 25(pile driven on rocks by 4''surf till I kedged off),I pretty much must completely re-layup the bottom 12" of the keel. In addition the leading edge must be reformed from the ballast out just where it turns aft and, astern, the starboard section with the reverse curve tapering to the trailing edge must be rebuilt from the centerline out. The bottom 12" of the actual trailing edge must also be recreated.
I have searched for months but can find no support to explain any of it! I did Email West System, receiving early advice about laying up "straps", to insure ballast integrity. I just sent them another email detailing the extent of the damage, including a rough sketch. They seemed very enthusiastic in the first response and I hope they can supply a solution.
Yet, I have sent Emails requesting advice at several other sites and have heard nothing. Perhaps they can''t find a good book either (he he he).
