Powder Coating for Cleats?

A friend has offered to powder coat my aluminum cleats. They we originally anodized and dyed black and over the years the dye has bleached out. Have any of you powder coated cleats? If so, would you recommend it?

Re: Powder Coating for Cleats?

Think about it. Cleats work by friction from the lines wrapped on them. Friction...chafes offpowder coat, will burn through plastic fairly quickly leaving you with a ragged edge and cleat to be re-stripped.

Nice offer, kind thought, but you want a hard coat on cleats. Anodize or zinc dip. If you cna find a local motorcycle shop, they often know a local anodizing place. Black anodizing is common, if you can tell the shop "do them with your next batch" instead of "do them tomorrow" you usually can get a price break, too.
