Inspecting forestay under Hood SeaFurl 3250 Reefer Furler

Does any one know if I need to take my Hood SeaFurl 3250 compeletely apart to see the Norse fitting on the base of the forestay wire?

I have the instrictions and it looks like I would need to remove the drum and foils off the forestay to see the fitting. I want to inspect the forestay wire and fitting for wear and corrosion/cracking.

You might be best off just looking at the install date and then arbitrarily replacing the stay if it's been up over a decade. (Warmer salt water climate in HI)

On second thought , that's not really what you were asking, but that's the internet for ya!


(I have a Harken furler; so have no experience with SeaFurl.)

Yes. I plan to replace all standing rigging and chainplates in two years. Even after that I would like to inspect the forestay Norse fitting at least every year thereafter.
