teak or mahogany

Just bought a melges m16 scow, has a wooden splash rail that needs some refinishing, i can't tell if it is teak or mahogany, anyone have any ideas on how I can tell the difference

Its mahogany. Melges nor any other scow builder ever used teak (unless possibly 'special ordered') on the foredeck splash rails.
