Is a Sat Phone the most dependable communications for the open sea? Is there any place on the open sea where a Sat Phone, for some reason will not work?

This is a pretty immense topic and short replies on a BB isn''t the best way to get your answer. I''d recommend you visit a few of the key websites where vendors - retailers like Marinenet and also parent companies like Iridium and Globalstar - will offer comprehensive information.

While I think sat phones are the way of the future I dont think they are quite their yet. Recently we could not get the thing to get any signal , but the year before it worked when we needed it most. Both time offshore from the north east to the Carribbean. Oh yeah Global star phone-thomas
