Re: Any experience with Garhauer??

I ordered some stanchions from them last year and they arrived promptly. Everyone I know that has dealt with them has been happy. Sorry to hear about your problem. Give them a call.

Our experience too... like the idea of a phone call over an email.. from what I hear they are usually very responsive.

Sorry to hear about your issue, I've never had any problems. I would call, not that you should have to but that should do the trick.

Re: Any experience with Garhauer??

Garhauer is AWESOME!

They are an old-fashioned, family-run, business run by craftsmen. Guido Gargiulo, one of the two owners, lost his wife, Nancy Lou, on April 22, 2012. (Obit here - and my condolences to Guido ) Guido was out of the factory for about a week. I believe that this affected their production - at the busiest time of year for them. I would cut them some slack.

As a comparison, D&R Marine (whom I also have great respect for) sells Garhauer Traveler End controls in their CLEARANCE section for $125 for a pair. You can order the newer design Traveler End controls directly from Garhauer for $130 for the pair. You can also talk with Guido, and he will customize them to your needs (usually for free!).

Call them at 909-985-9993.

I have nothing but good to say about their products; your issue seems atypical - hope it's resolved promptly.

I have Garhauer Radar pole, engine hoist and davits and their quality and customer service has been nothing but the best. May you should call. I have received calls vfrom them in the past immediately when I have called them.

Maybe they are old fashioned and they dont dealing in impersonal e mails....just saying.

Re: Any experience with Garhauer??

I've never ordered anything from them. They are only two or three miles from my house, so I just give them a call to make sure what I want is in stock and ride my bike over to pick it up. They're a pretty small operation, so this time of year is bound to be a bit hectic. I hadn't heard about Guido's wife passing away; that could well make things even more chaotic. Give them another call in a week or two, and be glad you can actually talk to someone who knows something at Garhauer (just try calling Harken, or Lewmar, and getting the person who actually processes, pulls, and packs your order on the phone).

Re: Any experience with Garhauer??

a few yrs back I ordered a traveler from them and they waived the standard of 5ft length when I insisted It had to be 5'6" It took about a month but it came in the mail Good stuff.. rugged and well polished too. also see the main-sheet and clutches on the cabin top.
I have more of their hardware but haven't installed it yet.
