Gotchas during re-launch after 4 wks?

Hey Folks,

I'm two months into boat ownership and my Cal 2-27 with Atomic 4 has been on the hard for a month for seasonal hull maintenance.

I didn't prep anything when they hauled her. Is there anything I should look out for when she's relaunched this Friday (just shy of four weeks after hauling?) I'm thinking about engine cooling, stuffing box, stuff like that? She has fresh water cooling, if that makes a difference.

Check the fluid levels (oil, coolant, batteries). Make sure she's pumping water when you start the engine. How long has it been since the stuffing box was repacked? Might want to do that as preventive maintenance. Bottom paint?

Thanks Mike. I don't know how long since it was repacked, but I did tighten the stuffing box with the PO, and he seemed confident that it had some life left in it (I'm sure he knows, and he probably told me, but I don't remember.) I was mainly thinking about the flax drying out or something, since I understand it works by being wet.

I'll check the fluids too. There are no puddles under the boat so they should be good!

I just painted the bottom today. I only used one coat because she got 2 coats last year, which is supposed to last two years.

Check the shaft bearing for wear. If you can move the shaft back and forth more than 1/16 inch, its time for a new one. Also check the rudder bearings for wear in the same manner.
