Yanamar 4JHE Impeller Replacement

Does anyone have any suggestions on accessing the four bolts on the port side of the engine in order to replace the impeller short of removing the alternator?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

George

they really put it in the worst possible place didn't they?

You can get to the bolts, it is just tricky and takes some positioning.

your two choices are to either get behind it like this:

or lay down a cushion on top and lie over it like this:

this is what it looks like with the cover off. You should have plenty of clearance to get wrenches back there

I am rebuilding the engine right now (4JH2E), if you want to check it out see the link in my signature.
