Whisker pole stuck

I have a Forespar telescoping whisker pole that has three sections. One section is very difficult to open and close. I've tried cleaning and rinsing to no avail.

Is there a lubricant that works well for this application?

Does anyone know how to disassemble one?

Thanks!

Re: Whisker pole stuck

I would use triflow because it dries and doesn't stay oily. Also, I would tap around the tight area with a rubber or plastic hammer very gently so as to not bend the metal. That should knock the dirt and corrosion loose.

I'm sure you have some Marvel Mystery Oil on board.
I'd try that before PB Blaster which apparently does not play nice with rubber fittings.

Re: Whisker pole stuck

Liberally spray the pole with vinegar ensuring it gets into each slide. Wait a while then spray again. Keep doing this until it frees up. And it will. Don't hit it with a hammer!!!
