Leaking Stuffing Box

I have a traditional wooden boat which has a hard wood stuffing box!

For the past 3 years it has had a slow leak at about 2/3 drips per minute.
Revciently the leak has increased. Is there any good way to reduce leaks in a hard wood stuffing box?

You're going to need to repack. Depending on the design you might need to be on the hard.

Right, I forgot the navy quit using them a few years back. Google it images, to refresh your mind.

Re: Leaking Stuffing Box

Is your wooden stuffing box made of Lignum Vitae?
Does it take a packing material like the bronze version?
If so I'd guess that the traditional flax packing would be the best choice for a wooden stuffing box.
