sealing a skylight

The skylights in my '90 hunter 30' were leaking so I rebedded them with neophrine rubber because I could'nt find any butyl rubber and I like to do things over and over. I guess I'll get some butyl and try it again. any tips?

I am not familiar with the port lights, but are they mechanically fastened? If yes, butyl tape could work. If no, I would use DOw Corning 795.

These are flush mounted into a lipped cutout on the top of the cabin. they replaced them with hatches with gutters the following year. I think I know why.
