Any chlorine products will kill the good bacteria in the holding tank. We use Raritan KO and CP for cleaning. That plus a good vent line keeps the head clean and the whole system odor free.

Your head might smell bad, but the source might be the hoses. So, a cat won't work. Maybe a ferret, though. Or, you can swap out your aging hoses for odorsafe(TM) sanitation hose. Ten buck a foot and well worth it.
