Los Angeles Area Boat Yards?

Does anyone know of any boat yards in the Los Angeles or maybe even the Long Beach area where I can have a project wood boat (34' cutter) pulled and then rent space to work on it over the next few months or year? And that's ME work on it and not someone else. Is that still possible here? The threads I've seen so far have out of date info.

FYI, I went to Wilmington Marine who told me they're looking to close shop as the Port of LA has other ideas for the land. Colonial Yacht has been closed (bankrupt) since March. So those two aren't an option.

Also, any ballpark figures on monthly rates? It won't be a liveaboard deal -- I'd just be looking to work on it a few hours every day after work and weekends.

Thanks.

It's gonna cost you $$$ for that sort of thing in SoCal. If the project is going to take more than few months, it might be worth the expense to pull the boat, put it on a trailer, and have it moved to a lot somewhere inland.

Try MDR, there's one there that'll let you self work. Nothing in LB, but you could try Cabrilloboatshopdotcom.

If you're willing to go south to the San Diego area, you may want to check with Driscoll's in Mission Bay

Try Ventura Harbor Boatyard. (805) 654-1433
Very affordable on lay days and the people there are great.
I did all my own work, and they are there to help if needed.
Prices in there store were as good if not better then west marine.

Thanks for the leads, unfortunately driving to places like Ventura and San Diego from the South Bay area of LA would take so long as to be not worth it. As for the others, I'll call 'em.
