Bronze Rudder Shoe Replacement

Hey everyone - I am restoring a Rhodes Swiftsure 33 and am interested in talking with other Rhodes owners. Also, I am looking for a rudder shoe (replacement or measurements) and tiller attachement. Thanks for your ideas!

Re: Bronze Rudder Shoe Replacement

Thank you for your suggestions. My boat is actually a Commodore Swiftsure, 1964 - I believe hull 137. Google "Rhodes Swiftsure saildata.com".

Mystic Seaport Library was incredible! &has many of the Rhodes drawings, but is missing the spec book for the Swiftsure... I'm probably going to have to use hobby clay to mold one & then have it cast at a local machine shop.
Anybody have experience with this?

Do you have the existing shoe? Can it be repaired? I had a bronze show on my Perason 28 where the hole became elongated. The local machine shop was able to fill and re-drill the shoe.

Get a chunk of bronze and dimensions.

I have a mill and will volunteer my time. You just have to get materials and pay shipping.

I am a hobby machinist.

The Port Townsend Foundry is what you need:
Port Townsend Foundry in Washington

These guys are happy to make something custom and they do exclusively boat stuff you you know it'll be the right type of bronze.
