BATTERY CHARGERS

I am in the market for a battery charger for my Santana 35 which has a very basic 2 bank 12V system. The boat will be used for daysailing and occasional overnighters. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

BATTERY CHARGERS

There are several good articles on this website on battery charging/power issues, so I''d start there. If you don''t use your batteries much, I''d consider a solar panel to keep them charged up. Or, if if you have access to shore power, a small built-in, 6-10 amp battery charger is probably all you''ll need. You might also consider an alternator upgrade.

I''ve got an 85 a/h battery on my boat that I only need a couple times a year for the position/interior lights (I also carry a hand-held VHF & GPS). So I have to charge up my battery (portable GUEST 10A) a lot more than it''s used. My plan is to go with a solar panel in the near future, and maybe upgrade to a AGM battery.

BATTERY CHARGERS

Most of us charge our batteries using the engine, no?
