Gel-like substance leaching from teak after oiling

Working on a 78 Newport 30 and all of the teak in the cockpit looked like it hadn't been touched for years. Dry as a bone with no signs of varnish and grey. We sanded it down and applied teak oil and the next day we noticed a gel-like substance in a couple spots. It appears to be leaching from the wood.

Any ideas what this is?

Just guesses. Could be old product that was still down in the grain that didn't mix well with the oil you used. Did you wash it well first? I suppose some soft grain may also be dissolving into the oil, if it is really beaten.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.
